Then pluck the three top strings in this order: 1,2,3,2.

then the guitar plays these Chords normally

Couplet :

[Esus4] Something has [G#m/B] left my life

"I can't be with you", The Cranberries.
From 2nd album 'No need to argue'

A E
Lying in my bed again,
      F#m D
And I cry cause you're not here.
A E
Crying in my head again,
      F#m D
And I know that it's not clear.
         A
Put your hands, put your hands
          E F#m D
Inside my face and see that it's just you.
         A
But it's bad, and it's mad,
         E
And it's making me sad
        F#m D
Because I can't be with you

Chorus:
            A E F#m D
Be with you, Be with you, Be with you, Be with you,
            A E
Be with you, Be with you,
         F#m D
Babe I can't be with you.

Thinking back on how things were
And how we loved so well
I wanted to be the mother
of your child
And now it's just farewell

Put your hands inside my hands
And come with me,
We'll find another end
And my head, and my head
On anyone's shoulder
Cause I can't be with you.

(Chorus)

Cause you're not here, you're not here
Baby I can't be with you
Cause you're not here, you're not here
And back I'm still in love with you.

(ad. lib to end)

Again, this sounds good on an electric-acoustic, using a Passac or
DI and a bit of reverb - but don't go overboard!

The best way to get the 'muffled' acoustic sound is to cut your
fingernails and use no pick. Use your thumb and index finger on
the strings, quickly raking, and your palm to slightly deaden the
strings.. still, if you find a better way... ;)

Use >5th barres for the chords (A == E @ 5th, E == A @ 7th,
F#m == Am @ 7th, D == A @ 5th) when it starts getting going.
Open chords sound good at the start, but once the rest of the
band kicks in, the rapid raking of the barres sounds better.

Haven't worked out the electric in the background yet, tho.

I Don't Need

[G - D - Am - Em. Repeated over and over]

The world is consuming me and I don't feel so happy here today
I'm not and I don't feel and I used to be a baby in my head
So where is it what do you like does she hold you happy next to her
And your head hangs lightly and everyone's slightly drunk tonight
They're drunk tonight again, la-la-la etc.

Em Am
I Don't need to see it, no, no, no etc.
Em Am G
I Don't need to see it, no, no, no etc.

My head is hanging now and my eyes are brown, they're brown, they're brown
And everyone's so patronizing I don't see when the rifting comes around
So where is your mother now, and she holds you happy next to her
And your head hangs lightly and everyone's slightly drunk tonight
They're drunk tonight again, la-la-la etc.

I Don't need to see it....

And there'll be no more time today, no more time today, no, no
No more time today, no more time today.....

it's tearing me apart it's ruining everyday.

I also like to alternate A and A6 between measures to add some
variety to it.

I swore, I swore I would be true
but honey so did you
so why were you holding her hand
is that the way we stand
were you lying all the time
was it just a game to you

But I miss you
you know I'm such a fool for you
you got me wrapped around your finger
do you have to let it linger
do you have to
do you have to
do you have to let it linger

Oh, I thought I loved you
I thought that nothing could go wrong
but I was wrong
I was wrong

If you, if you could get by
trying not to lie
things wouldn't be so confused
and I wouldn't feel so used
but you always ruin you
I just wanna be with you

and I miss you
you know I'm such a fool for you
you got me wrapped around your finger
do you have to let it linger
do you have to
do you have to
do you have to let it linger

and I miss you
you know I'm such a fool for you
you got me wrapped around your finger
do you have to let it linger
do you have to
do you have to
do you have to let it linger

you know I'm such a fool for you
you got me wrapped around your finger
do you have to let it linger
do you have to
do you have to
do you have to let it linger

No need to argue

	  * Capital letters are Major Chords,
	  * the other ones are Minor.
	  * The H chord is more common as B.
        So e.g. f means Fm, C is still C, h is Bm and b would be Am#

     (C) F G C
There's no need to argue anymore

The timing here is probably a bit rough but you get the general idea.

Then you kick your overdrive in and play the top 4 bass strings on each chord.

I think there is 2 sets of this played ending with a long Em
and then the verse. I tend to simulate the bass by playing softly on the
strings and then the guitar bits much louder, if you listen to the CD this
seems to be close to what they are doing

^The lead comes in about here

The lead riff is
e---7h8--5h7--3h5--2h3p2---------
B------------------------3-3-0---

The verse varies a bit but is more or less based on the above.
I haven't worked out the solo yet but seems to use two guitars one playing
a riff based on the lead riff above (well at least it starts like that)

e---7h8--5h7-7-7-7- Repeat

Or something like that and then the other guitar comes over the top.

Well thats about it, I did work out the little bass riff but I forget how
it goes though it is based around E open, E third, A 5th, A 3rd and A open.

Chords:

2nd variant Em C G D/F#
3nd variant

	Em 02200x
	Cadd9 03200x
	G6 3200xx
D/F# 2000xx This probably should be 20023x or something but I'm lazy

Occasionally in the heavier parts I substitute
Cadd9 for C/G (330210) for a bit of variety.

Zombie, The Cranberries

Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence caused such silence
Who are we mistaken

but you see, it's not me
it's not my family
in your head, in your head
they are fighting

Chorus

With their tanks, and their bombs,
and their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head they are cryin'
In your head, In your head
Zombie, etc.
What's in your head in your head, in your head
Zombie, etc.

Another mother's breakin'
heart is taking over
when the violence causes silence
we must be mistaken
it's the same old theme since 1916
in your head,
in your head they're still fightin'

Chorus

VARIANT 2

VARIANT 3
"Zombie", The Cranberries

Here I post some minor corrections to the main riff of this song.
Since this little gem plays a major role in the song, it may be worth
while considering. Here is the version as I figured it out from the CD
last night.

Am Fmaj7 G

Am Fmaj7 G
Still can't recognise the way I feel I feel I feel
   Am Fmaj7 G
If what you said to me was real
        Am Fmaj7 G
And you still can't find the strength to apologize, uh-gize, uh-gize, a-lies.
         Am Fmaj7 G
You just go on laughing and telling everyone lies

                  Am Fmaj7 G
Cuz you wanted it all, you wanted it all, you wanted it all
                           Am Fmaj7 G
No, and there's nothing at all, nothing at all, nothing at all

Am Fmaj7 G
Baby if you could see beyond your nose, your nose, your nose, who knows?
Am Fmaj7 G
Back then what could happen surely shows.
Am Famj7 G
Do you like the sound than your additude, I do, I do, I do
        Am Fmaj7
And you went on laughing and shouting, "It's all too soon."

                  Am Fmaj7 G

Dm A#
Sitting in an armchair,
   F C
my head between my hands
   Dm A#
I wouldn't have to be like this
   F C
if you'd only understand

Dm A#
Too many misundertandings
F C
causing such delay
    Dm A#
And If it doesn't work like this
          F C
well I'll try another way

You know that all I wanted
       F C
was to be there by your side.
    Dm A#
And if you didn't want it
         F C
Then you shouldn't have denied.

    Dm A#
You knew that you were someone special
F C
right from the start
    Dm A#
But if you treat me badly
        F C
we'd be better off apart.

Dm A# F C

I suppose the intro sounds much better with this tab layout and
easy to play with a capo.

W. B. Yeats "Second"

Why should I blame her,
there she filled my days
With misery or that she would of late
Have taught to ignor can't man violent ways
Or harled the little streets upon the grenout
Had they but courage
Equal to desire

Sad there Mand Gonne couldn't stay
But she had MacBride anyway
and you sit here with me
on the isle In istree

and your writing down everything
But I know by now
Why did you sit here
In the grave...

Why should I blAme her,
Had they but courage equal to desire
